‘Watch What I Do’: Learn How To Butcher A Crab From A Prince Rupert Master

This is definitely not for the squeamish.

Here’s a suggestion for making it through a cold and socially-distanced winter: learn how to butcher and cook a live crab.

The Hecate Strait has some truly amazing Dungeness crab and preparing is not difficult–as long as you follow the instructions of master crab butcher, Ray Pedersen, a Prince Rupert local who says he’s “literally butchered 1000 of them.”

“Watch what I do,” he says in a new tutorial posted to YouTube

A word of warning however: slicing into a live crab and tearing out its guts is probably not a good activity for the squeamish.
