The video of happier times was recently posted by his family.

It was a sad day last month when Tommy Dennis, a 79-year-old Witset Elder that went missing while mushroom picking, was found deceased near Kitwanga. His family recently posted a memorial video to YouTube that contains photos from happier times.

“Thank you for helping in the search for my dad to the Search and Rescue teams from the Bulkley Valley, Houston, Terrace, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Prince George, Nechako Valley, Fort St. James, Central Cariboo, South Fraser and Campbell River,” reads a message from Dennis’ daughter Marilyn Morrison and his family. “Also, to the New Hazelton RCMP, numerous volunteers from local and far away Indigenous communities, Canim Lake, Lhtako Dene, Kitwancool, Gitsegukla, Gitanmaax, Hagwilget, Kispiox, Glen Vowell, Witset, and more. The elders and community members that fed us, kept us strong, that helped search, comfort us and prayed every day.  Also, to the community and helping people from Gitwangak, BC.”
