Startling BC Visuals Show How COVID Spreads Through Workplaces And Towns

Just one infected person can quickly infect dozens.

With COVID cases reaching record highs across B.C., provincial health authorities are releasing visuals showing how a single infected person can impact the lives of hundreds of other people. The graphics, which are based on actual data, demonstrate in startling detail why coronavirus is so contagious.

One image shows what happens when a worker with COVID-19 goes to their job at an industrial worksite: 48 others are infected, resulting in 111 additional people having to self-isolate, one worker being admitted to the hospital and four other worksites–a car dealership, medical clinic, lumber mill and processing plant–also experiencing infections.

Another image shows the dramatic impact of a single sick wedding guest: 50 other guest are exposed and forced to self-isolate. Meanwhile the virus is carried to a long-term care home, where 81 others have to self-isolate, three people are admitted to the hospital and one person dies.
